71th D-Day anniversary – june 6th 2015 ceremony – Cérémonie du 6 juin 2015 – 71° anniversaire du Jour J

The ceremony will stand at the Bill Millin memorial (place du Débarquement 14880 COLLEVILLE-MONTGOMERY) on  june 6th at 17:15

Of course anybody is welcome to pay tribute to those who fight in Normandy at any time during the year.

But june 6th is THE anniversary date . That’s why we set the ceremony with Officials that day.

For pipe-bands or individuals, you must understand that this ceremony has a schedule, in the timing and in the played tunes. Also that it’s necessary to enlist, as the organization is not the same with 100 than with 10

THANKS TO ENLIST  BY POSTING ON THIS PAGE, BEFORE MAY 30TH  BY ENTERING NAME OR BAND NAME AND NUMBER . A LISTING OF ENLISTED PLAYERS WILL BE GIVEN HERE.

The Colleville-Montgomery City Council proposes to share a drink after the ceremony.

For P&D who wish to play 3rd half-time, a dinner will stand as usual at “Le relais Saint-Hubert”. Only for enlisted ones, as the place number is limited. Details to enlist for the dinner will be given in april.

Also the traditionnal rendez-vous at Pegasus bridge Museum

Thanks to follow these rules for the success of the ceremony , which is the best way to pay respectfully our tribute to the Braves.

Wish you a great tour in Normandy.

My friends from france told me about Bill Millin. After all what I’ve learned about Bill I got the deep desire to play for all these brave people who fought and liberated Europe.

My son, age 10, plays the drum. Would it be possible to play together with a few other pipers for the veterans?

I am looking forward hearing from you.

    Dear Sir,
Members of the Clan Fraser Society of Scotland & the UK plan to visit Normandy the week begining Monday 29th June 2015. Sometime that week they hope to lay a Clan Fraser poppy wreath at the statue of Bill Millin and also at the statue of Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, theLord Lovat, our old Clan Chief. Simon, the current Lord Lovat has agreed to this action and has approved the design of the Clan Fraser poppy wreaths. We feel we should tell you about our plans and hope you may be able to sanction our efforts.

    • Serge says:

Dear members of the Clan Fraser,

you’re very welcome to deposit a wreath at Bill Millin Memorial, as it’s purpose is to remember those who served and fell on the Normandy beaches, and that’s what you are going to do by coming there.

If you wish to set a service, please write me with a mail adress, so that I can give you details.

      Yours

      Serge

Due to other dificulties only myself and my wife will be bringing the Clan Fraser poppy wreath but if you think it is suitable to hold a service the Fraser Society think this would be a good idea.
