Message of the Tartan Army

“We in The Tartan Army are so appreciative to the French people who are doing this for Piper Bill. As you know we have published this on our message board/website and hopefully we can make a small contribution to what is a great cause.

We have many pipers who follow Scotland at football and hopefully when the statue is completed and unveiled, some of us will make it over to France to meet you all.

Vive Le France, Vive L’ Ecosse!!!!!”

“This statue is an absolute must. As a British citizen I’m very grateful for the efforts of the French authorities and those French citizens who have done such a lot to get it off the ground. I will of course donate and get friends and family to do likewise. You will get there.”

“I have been collecting stories from those who served in WWI & WWII, and I wrote to Piper Bill Millin early last year and explained to him that my Father in Law Charles Phillips was one of the Commando’s just in front of him in that famous picture of them disembarking onto Sword beach. I was over the moon when he sent me a signed postcard wishing me good luck. If I was rich I would pay for the statue myself.
What he said was right “if they remember the piper they will remember the men”.
